Dr. Helmut Leibinger

Dr. Helmut Leibinger graduated from the Vienna University of Technology with a doctorate in process engineering. After seven years in international plant engineering, he joined Rohrdorfer Zement in 2006 and became head of the technical center for planning. After completing his executive MBA at the University of St. Gallen, he was tasked in 2020 with setting up a net zero emissions team to decarbonize cement production. This team gave rise to Net Zero Emission Labs GmbH at the beginning of January 2023, of which Helmut Leibinger is the head and managing director. Net Zero Emission Labs GmbH acts like a start-up within the Rohrdorf Group. Among other things, the 20 or so experts at Labs GmbH are researching ways in which the CO2 captured in cement production can be recycled in the chemical industry. The Rohrdorfer Baustoffgruppe is a Bavarian company with 2,300 employees and annual sales of around 750 million euros.
