For urban mining to become an industry standard, deconstruction processes and the reuse of building components from existing buildings must be economically viable and practically applicable. The research project MIRAKEL addresses this challenge by improving data availability, standardising pre-deconstruction assessments, and enabling early evaluation of reuse and recycling potential, as well as associated costs and environmental impacts.
The project develops a prototype digital assistance system for professionals across the entire circular construction value chain, supported by artificial intelligence and mixed reality technologies.
